Quite dark auburn, with chestnut overtones, in appearance. Persistent, lacy, ivory head. Subtle, caramel, medium dark roasted grains, to the smell. Restrained, dark roast malt/grain, with a dryness instead of a bite. A toasty caramel finish.

From a bottle in Des Moines at Carissa's wedding. Pours a Coca Cola brown. A sweet caramel and a little plumb. Not as much hops as a German dunkel but very drinkable.

Very good dark lager, i picked up a 5.4% and a 5.0% bottle in the mix 6 cooler at Hy-Vee. They taste the same, and i thought it was odd that they would have one thats a slightly higher apv. They go down smooth and have a pretty good flavor.

Appearance: Pours a dark brown, slightly bronze color that is clear, but so dark it's nearly opaque with only slight clarity remaining. A moderate light tan head. SRM of 20. (4.00)
Aroma: Moderate caramel and chocolatey aromas come forth of milk cocoa, caramel, roasted nuts. But a decent amount of roasted astringency comes forth through the middle. Improve as it warms. (3.75)
Flavor: Flavor follows with more caramel, chocolate, and roasted nut flavors. There is some underlying complexity of bread pudding, toffee, coffee cake. A decent amount of roasty (or not roasty) bitterness though and finishes somewhat dry and clean. (3.50)
Feel: Lighter bodied, low to moderate carbonation. Finishes light and clean on the palate. (3.25
Compared to Fireside Flannel's Brown Ale 12/1/20: Pours a lighter and more bronzed color. Less dark and roasty cocoa with dark cherry. More
Overall: A very nice and clean drinking dark/brown lager. I guess a dunkel. It has great caramel, milk chocolate, and baked nut flavors but with still a dryness that gives it a clean and dry finish. There's some mild complexity underneath. Extremely drinkable and worth buying for a lighter beer in the winter anytime! (Current Rating: 3.67+)

Look: Clear, dark brown with a light tan head.
Smell: Roasty caramel and coffee, some sweetness (brown sugar or molasses) and spice
Taste: Coffee along with a sort of tart flavor. Leaves a warm bittersweetness. Sort of earthy, herbal tones. Yeast.
Feel: Normal carbonation, medium body.
Overall: Pretty solid beer. It didn't blow me away, but I don't love this style in general so that's not their fault. I'd drink it again.

Not super flavorful and a little watery. I enjoyed this beer when I first poured it but it quickly became somewhat flat both in flavor and texture. Also it's an ugly translucent brown.
