On tap at The Brass Tap, Cedar Falls, IA. Served in a tulip glass. Deep blackish brown in color, with a dark tan head. Lots of char up front, which mellowed a bit as the beer came closer to room temperature. Aromas and flavors of dark roasted malt, barrel char, dark chocolate, and a little bit of dark roast coffee. The orange zest was also subdued at first, but came through a bit as it warmed. The finish is dry, with a hint of oaky astringence. Although poured cold, this turned into a very pleasant sipper after a few minutes. Overall, excellent beer.
