Smoke from the bottle.
Deep red, reddish brown in the middle, golden below.
Rather thick head, bubble streams, at first, are few & far between. None after a minute.
Sweet cherry scent.
Following the nose ... watery at first, unfolding chewy tart; a focused, malty note.
After a few gulps & taking 5, a lingering flavor most pleasant upon the mouth's roof.
A fine representation, recommended for those who have not had a Red Ale in quite a while, like me!

Appearance - Pours slightly cloudy and reddish copper with an off-white, quarter-finger width head. Sub-par retention results in a mostly barren surface and a razor thin ring around the edge of the glass. Not much for lacing.
Smell - Toffee, light caramel and roast, and a faint whiff of earth.
Taste - Strong notes of buttered toffee, cola-like caramel, and a hint of roast and smokiness. Sweet through to the finish with a hint of earth.
Mouthfeel - Light-bodied with lightly bubbly carbonation. Slick texture with a flat, watery finish.
Overall - This is a very average beer. While I like the flavor, the prominent toffee character can get a bit cloying, even for a toffee lover such as myself. The feel is the real turn-off here; very boring.
