A - Pours a very dark ruby red colour, finger of tan head and some nice sheeting lacing. Very nice presentation, even from a growler.
S - Nose is mild, but boasts some nice cocoa notes, earthy pine, hints of citrus rind, and a touch of vanilla on the finish.
T - Very nicely balanced with a solid cocoa malt backbone complemented by citrus rind, earthy pine notes, oily resin notes and some lingering bitter cocoa and dark chocolate.
M - Medium bodied, smooth, and a touch of dryness.
O - Not too shabby for their first black IPA. Very nicely balanced, offering up a solid dose of hops flavours alongside a rich cocoa malt backbone. Really diggin' this brew and could easily be added to their flagship line-up. Any fan of the style will appreciate this brew.
