Grows on me, sweet and roasty. Just roasty would have been good to. A highlight of our tasting, trying to get people through the gateway.Mollasses add to body.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a large brown foamy head with good retention with some light lacing. Aroma of roasted malt with some black chocolate notes with light green pepper notes also noticeable. Taste is also a mix of roasted malt notes with some black chocolate notes and some green peppers notes which are more or less pleasant. Body is full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol notes. Enjoyable but I am guessing green peppers notes would be less prevalent if beer had more time to ferment.

Pitch black with a nice mocha head, some retention and sporadic lacing. Nose is loaded with milk chocolate and cocoa, burnt toast and leather. Flavors are dominated by the cocoa notes, hints of molasses, and bitter hop notes on the finish. Medium bodied, smooth and a touch of dryness. SGBC'S first foray into the higher ABV brews is a great success. Well crafted, nicely balanced, ABV heat well hidden. Would love to see a barrel aged version of this with a higher ABV.
