While home at Chez Woody in self-quarantine, I have been making a concerted effort to really clear out some of the backlog, especially the Bottle (!) Backlog. These last several have been bombers that were purchased & simply set aside in covered cardboard box. 8=( That is part of my downfall - bottled beers in cardboard boxes & CANs in cardboard 6-pack carriers: I can't see what I've got & so - out of sight, out of mind begins to apply.
From the Bottle: "Brewed and Bottled by Naked Brewing Company, Huntington Valley, PA 19006".
I was becoming more & more anxious as delved deeper into this brewery's backlog. This will be the fourth & last. As with the previous beer, Naked's Red Ale, I got some foaming, but thankfully not gushing, through the neck. I again went into emergency C-Line pour mode, getting the pour started straight away while trying to be as a calm and as gentle as possible. This resulted in the formation of two-plus fingers of dense, rocky, foamy, light-tan head with very good retention. Color was deep Coppery-Brown (SRM = > 17, < 22) with NE-quality clarity. Nose had a cool pine hoppiness accompanied by a caramel malt backbone. Good. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, not quite creamy, but big for an APA. The taste was quite pine-minty with a good deal of bitterness. I have to cop to being pleasantly surprised by this since we are always being cautioned that hops are quick to fade. If anything, the bitterness had perhaps surpassed what it was originally. Hmm. Finish remained dry, pleasantly bitter & certainly worthwhile. YMMV.

Naked Brewing Co. "Naked Pale Ale"
on tap at the brewery on 14 April 2018
Notes: Clear deep golden/amber body beneath a short head of white. The head retention and lacing are average. Moderate aroma of citrus and subtle pine atop a lightly sweetish and biscuity malt base. The flavor follows in a similar vein but with less pine and more earthiness. It's got a solid bitterness that keeps it in check and brings it to a dry and bitter finish while still allowing some of the sweetish malt to linger shortly. It's not a very hoppy beer in flavor and aroma, but it remains clearly American, and not English in nature. Medium leaning towards medium-light on body and crisp. Overall fairly average.

Poured from a 22oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.
A: The beer is a deep amber color, with a large foamy off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a spotty lace on the glass.
S: The aroma contains caramelized malts, some earthy hops and some citrus.
T: The taste starts out sweet with flavors of caramel, honey and some citrus. Then a hearty malt character comes in. The hops presence is earthy but mild for the style and brings a decent balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet and slightly bready.
M: Smooth and a little crisp, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.
O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, mild kick, decent representation of style, this is a solid beer to drink for a while but there are several others in the style that I would pick first.
