12oz bottle drank yesterday. (2 actually) bottled 8/16, so 8 months old.
dark amber body, initial head looks like a pancake on a griddle. dissipates to a faint ring. no lacing.
70% lager, 30% porter, and it's the porter that comes through on the nose.
porter is the more dominant flavor, which is fine by me. but the lager does provide a certain liveliness, and takes the edge off the roasted malt. nicely balanced.
mouth is just below medium.
overall, this is a very drinkable inoffensive sessionable beer. ironically, I picked it up by mistake, thinking i was grabbing midnight Fuggle. haven't cared much for black and tans in the past, but this is a decent beer.

This beer is fantastic. I think it's so well balanced. The pilsener side of it really increases its drinkability and it still has the really nice coffee/vanilla vibe goin on which gives it a great mouthfeel and taste.

This Black and Tan was my first Nimble Hill experience, and it was a nice one.
Draft at the Fireplace. Beer was served in a cool Nimble Hill stout glass which wafted mild scents of roastiness and grain toward me. This beer was very thirst quenching with mild roasted flavors, a touch of pilsner (the Tan), and a hint of vanilla. The mouthfeel was great for a beer of this gravity and active carbonation carried it across the palate with ease. I could have bunches of these, no questions asked.
If you like Yuengling Black and Tan give this a try, it's a step above. Would definitely drink again...
