Draft at the brewery
Fair creamy dense brown head with good retention, messy lacing, dark black color with a bit of ruby light
Nose chocolate, roast, coffee, lactose, powdered cocoa, little spices, nutty
Taste brings more roast up front, roast bordering acrid, slight metallic, charred coffee, nutty, bitter spicy hops and bitter roast, lactose burnt milk, cocoa and dark chocolate, finishes semi sticky sweet, long bitterness
Mouth is med to fuller bod, creamy, med to higher carb
Overall OK

Pours a deep dark brown, practically black like coffee, out of the can. A very thin half inch dark brown head appears and disappears within a minute.
Aromas are pretty subdued here, dark chocolate and coffee on the nose which is par for the course. I didn’t get much else
Taste is definitely nice for a milk stout. Caramel malt up front followed by the chocolate and coffee from the smell. A gentle toasty flavour is present but very subtle and is overpowered by the milky, sweet finish. I definitely get some almonds and toffee as well here. The flavours all meld in the initial sip on this one. Just like milk, there is a very subtle longevity to the drink, if you’re not eating anything you’ll notice the mild coating on your tongue of that lactose thickness
Unique enough mouthfeel for a milk stout. The carbonation is just prickly enough to hit you initially when you sip and get all the malty chocolate toffee flavour, and then summers down to the end for a more creamy feel. Definite milk like / lactose finish at the end, gets the saliva going, makes you feel like you’re drinking something thick and creamy. Light-Medium bodied, plenty drinkable, not as heavy as it looks.
Two reviewers below pointed out to let it warm, so I made sure to do that. After writing the initial review I waited some extra time. I usually drink my beers with milk (beer first, then milk. Yeah, I got an iron stomach) and had some corn and refried beans with this. Wow, does the character change with both food and warming up. The aromas really opened up from the initial pour, so much so I had to increase my rating. Much more of a toasty malt flavour, strong caramelized sugar which might be the caramel malt-y smell I initially noted coming out more. Stronger toffee and something not unlike dark cherries covered in melted dark chocolate coming through. It sounds like I’m just being flowery but it really transforms. Mouthfeel becomes a little creamier. The chocolate and milk notes are more expressive over time.
Not the absolute craziest stout or milk stout but definitely well above average and worth a try by anyone. Especially for a local beer in a unique style!

Look: Pours deep dark brown with a 1 finger russet head. Head disapates after 5 minutes leaving slight lacing
Smell: Strong chocolate milkshake notes, with caramel and molasses.
Taste: Chocolate milk, a bit of caramel and hazelnut and a hint of cigar tabacco.
Feel: Light to medium bodied. Low carbonation but not to the point of being flat like a dry irish stout. A litte sugary on the back end.
Very consistant dessert milk stout. There are better stouts and porters available on the Ontario market, but if you are really wanting a milk chocolate dominant stout, with little discernible roasted flavour this might be exactly what you are looking for. I give it a solid B.

Smooth and creamy mouthfeel with a full body and a mellow dry finish. The lactose sweetness is very strong and the chocolate notes are delicious. Overall a very enjoyable and easy to drink sweet milk stout.

Moderate head, lots of lace in the arly going. Chocolatey, malty nose, only a wee bit of roastiness. Appetizing enough. Chocolate and malt again to taste. Smooths out and shows some creaminess as it warms up, so best to wait this one out a bit if you can. Easy drinking, and tasty enough, an above average offering, but not spectacular.

Pleasantly surprised. Just getting into the Stouts and Porters and this Stout is very tasty. Flavors of dark chocolate, burnt almond. Pours opaque dark brown, a beige head with little retention. Malty.

Dark brown with 3 fingers of deep beige head.
Smells of chocolate, dark toasted malts, kind of like a Munich Dunkel lager in the hop profile.
Tastes of chocolate, birthday candle wax, and toffee.
Medium body, and highly carbonated, overall it has a light feel for 5.6% ABV.
Drinking in Muskoka, Feb 22nd, 2018. Really enjoying this one. Relatively complex, light and easy feel to it.

I popped into the brewery near my work for a couple of pints after work. The venue is pretty awesome with a great atmosphere but the two pints I'm working through have both been served way too cold. I know I'm in North America now, where they like their beer chilled but this is ridiculous.
However, despite the icey nature of this one, the flavour and mouthfeel really come through which is pretty amazing. I'd love to taste this at a better temperature.
Definitely worth a try

Can - pours a deep dark brown with a 3 finger mocha colored cap that lasts and laces. Aroma is pungent cocoa-coffee-roasty malts with grassy-minty undertones. Medium bodied with a silken mouthfeel - the flavor profile has big cocoa-toasty malt flavors crash the plate at first but this mellows and you get a rich creamy amalgam of the malts, cocoa and lactose that approximates a malty crème brûlée with some appropriate bittering - long wet chocolatey finish with increasing bittering an a sweet creamy kiss at the finish - very well put together chocolate milk stout - easy drinking and just perfect with a Dominican cigar.

I bought a can of this from Brantford whilst in Canada for my son's hockey tournament. It poured an opaque black with no head and no lace. The scent had hints of milk chocolate. The taste is nicely balanced and easy to drink. There is chocolate with subtle hint of roast/coffee. The Mouthfeel is lighter in body with smooth carbonation. Overall it's decent.

I really like the Release the Hounds from Big Rig so was excited to try this offering as I tend to like chocolate stouts. This was enjoyable but fell short for me. Too light on the chocolate flavours, too thin on taste & mouthfeel & too much carbonation for the style.

Can: Poured a black color stout with a light brown foamy head with some retention and light lacing. Aroma of chocolate and light roasted malt is enjoyable. Taste is a nice mix of chocolate and light roasted malt with some light lactose notes. Body is light with good carbonation. Not bad but fell a bit short on flavours.
