Draft at the brewery
Pours a large frothy foamy tan head with great retention, messy lacing, dark mahogany color but clear ruby light
Nose some fresh wort, raw malt, toasted grainy, biscuity, toffee and caramel, toasty, a bit of chocolate
Taste brings rich malts, toasted grainy malts, caramel, toffee, nutty, biscuity, a bit of coffee and chocolate, fair hops with med bitterness, a bit spicy grassy herbal hops, semi dry finish, med to higher bitterness lingering
Mouth is med bod, a bit creamy, med carb
Overall not bad, not as much malt character as I expected, and hops take over a bit too much for a brown

L: Dark brown, translucent and red when lit up, generous light brown foam lingers slightly with lots of lacing
S: Faint doughy sweet brown sugar malt with a subtle hint of roastiness, lightly spicy and earthy hops
T: Astringent citrus pith and earthy hops are immediately apparent against a subtle bready lightly roasted brown malt background
F: Smooth, somewhat thick, a tickle from the carbonation, a bit oily. Somewhat dry and lightly bitter finish.
O: Enjoyable, interesting and complex flavour that hits the spot when you want something hoppy but also dark

Medium cops Brown with a big head and awesome lacing. A handsome looking beer. Caramel nose, gentle whiff of hops. Smells appetizing, but doesn't deliver on the taste side. Sharp edged mouthed and an oddly chemical taste. Great start full of tasty malts lost in a poor finish.
