This hoppy pale bock is loaded with Australian Galaxy and New Zealand Motueka hops. It features wonderful citrus, tropical fruit, and gooseberry notes, along with a clean lager finish.

On-tap at Atlas. Served in a 5oz taster glass.
A - White foam settles to a thin cap, thick collar, and minimal lacing. Transparent pale amber body.
S - Great hoppy aroma, with a hefty dose of citrus, tropical fruits, and a bit of zest to it. There's a sugar cookie and light bready malt backdrop, but this one is all about the hops.
T - The taste is a bit more balanced, with a mixture of tropical fruits, sugary malts, a touch of red fruits, and moderate lingering bitterness in the finish.
M - Medium body, moderate carbonation, dry, crisp and clean finish. Seems lighter than the listed 7.1%, and drinks more like a pale lager than a bock.
D - Dangerous beer at 7.1%, as I would have guessed 5% or so. Bock is a bit misleading, as the flavor profile is more pale ale (or IPL) than bock; this really doesn't have the caramel, bread and nuttiness I expect from that style. I guess this is 'bock strength'. Still, this bodes well for DryHop's upcoming opening and reflects a definite improvement in Atlas' offerings as well. Hope they make more of this one.
