From notes.

12 oz snifter consumed at the Iron Goat tap room for $5. This is a version of their standard wee heavy that has been aged in bourbon barrels from Oola, a distiller in Seattle.

Poured a very dark brown - virtually black - color, with a decent-sized off-white head. Moderate lace.

Bourbon, mildly roasty malt, and a faint whiff of something like black licorice are what greeted my schnoz.

VERY smooth tasting beer! The bourbon flavor is fairly up front, but with minimal alcohol burn. The menace of the alcohol is implied rather than spelled out. There are some sweet, toffee and roasty notes in the background that meld well with the bourbon flavor.

Full bodied, with a sticky, coating mouthfeel.

This would be a great nightcap beer, especially on a cold winter's night. I'd love to have a growler of this to work on druing such a night. Hopefully IG's move into a larger space will enable beers like this to be brewed in sufficient quantity that they can be taken home.
