12oz snifter consumed at Iron Goat for the sum of $6. I believe this was brewed specifically as a special libation for New Year's Eve.
Poured into the glass, this was a kind of honeyish gold color, with an initially lively off-white head that disappeared a little too quickly.
In the nose, I get peaches, pears, and various fruity and spicy esters that defy exact classification, but are not out of place for a beer of this style.
Flavor aspects of the style are nailed! Fruity, sweet and spicy flavors all meld together. No trace of the high alcohol content of this beer in its taste, by the way.
The wheels fall off a bit here, with a mouthfeel that's a little too heavy for the style, but I've run into that with myriad American tripels, so it's not something I score too harshly.
A very tasty American Tripel with no trace of how strong it actually is in the taste. I hope they make this again.
