Pint consumed at Iron Goat for $5.50. Brewed to a recipe by my friend Scotland, an IGB employee. 6.2% abv and 22 IBUs, for those keeping score.
Very dark brown, nearly black, unless held up to light, when some rubbish highlights make themselves known. Decent sized tan head that dropped fairly quickly. Streaky, spotty lace.
Coconut and coffee in the nose, more or less.
Nutty and sweet coconut flavor leads the charge, but is almost immediately backed up by the usual porter aromas of burnt malt, almost coffee like bitterness. There are also some chocolatey notes.
Body is somewhere between medium and full, with a fairly creamy mouthfeel.
Coconut flavor but not insipid sweetness. Its not a Baby Ruth bar by any means. I quite like it's balance, and happily drink this during Spokane's seemingly never ending winter. Well done, Scotland!
