Winning recipe of a contest held by a local homebrew group. 4.7% and 65 IBUs, and brewed with Blood Oranges (hence the name).
Clear golden amber color, with a pillowy white head that hung around for a bit.
Citrusy hop nose. Despite the vaunted blood oranges, I did not find it more citrusy than a garden variety IPA.
Taste was much like the nose. For something under 5% abv, there's a goodly amount of hop flavor, but again, if blood oranges weren't in the name, I'd have had no idea they were used. Pleasantly, citrusy bitter in the grapefruity way of a thousand IPAs, it finishes in a nice, clean manner befitting it's being a lager.
Light-to medium body, with a slightly crisp and clean finish.
A nice alternative to IG's big, bold hoppy beers, but not overly memorable. I'd have it again if wanting something low-abv while sitting outside.
