Mug club-sized pour at Iron Goat for $6 before taxes. Collaboration beer brewed with Fort George, using regionally grown naked oates and triticale (a rye-wheat hybrid grain).
Orange-amber, with good clarity and a nice, creamy off-white head. Lots of lace.
Spicy and earthy nose. The triticale dominates the nise, but there's some sharp, piney, grapefruity hop notes as well.
Taste is very similar to the nose, but with a smooth, subtle maltiness that mostly spotlights the rye flavors of the triticale and the hops. Finishes on a mildly dry note.
Really creamy, smooth mouthfeel from the oats, more so than most IPAs, but not overly big bodied or flabby. I'm not someone who generally gets too enthusiastic about mouthfeel unless it's especially great or especially flawed. This is very much the former.
Really hope this gets brewed again in the future. The combination of spicy, earthy notes and creamy smooth mouthfeel makes this a pleasure to drink.
