a nice beer in what appears to be an evolving series of brut ipa. its well made, distinct on the hop profile, and clean to drink, really very tasty beer, and some of the better hoppy stuff i had around spokane on my recent trip. everyone said this place was awesome and making some of the better beers in town, and they were right! they dont tell us what the hops are, but i gather its a mix of some new school varietals, lots of citrus here, but also lots of other fruitiness, pineapple and melon specifically, could be an el dorado or an amarillo in with some citra and mosaic, nothing way out of the ordinary, but a thoughtful mix and well dosed and timed through this. with these beers, i dont want to taste any where phenolic or chemical things from the enzymes they use, and i dont here. i also need them to really pop in the feel, be dry and effervescent and clean, which this one is. finally, i want them to be robustly dry hoppy without much bitterness and zero green vegetal bite, and this meets that criteria as well. perhaps not the most interesting brut out there, but its technically real well done, drinkable as they go, and an enjoyable beer overall. i was impressed with all the beer i had here at iron goat!
