really tasty new mexican dark lager in here, and while i dont often associate mexican lagers with seasonality, this seems awesome for the fall, and a neat change of pace from the german lagers that dominate this time of year. this is on the deeper end of the color spectrum for the style, it has good clarity and an average tan head on it. the nose is only slightly sweet, nutty malts not overly rich, a hint of toffee or molasses, but more character than sweetness, the yeast is evident in the nose too, trace citrus to it and a little lightening crackery thing, simple beer, but well balanced. the flavor is even better than the nose, with some noble hops coming out with the yeast on the finish, and more grain depth than i can smell, layers of raisin and rustic bread even making this more autumnal, seems somewhat european to me, even with the mexican yeast, and i like the complexity overall, especially in a beer thats still this drinkable. the body is lighter than it looks, the carbonation is on point, and its relatively dry at the end as well, especially for being so malt forward. a cool example of the style, pretty distinctive, and excellent with their chicken quesadilla here at the brewery. always good to get in here for a beer and a meal!
