22 ounce bottle into a snifter. The look is reddish brown, not much head, but a bit of lacing. The aroma is plums and raisins. The taste is plums and raisins, with an undercurrent of bourbon, and a definite oak character. This isn't a bourbon bomb, and that's good. It's too often that the barrel aging overwhelms the beer, but that hasn't happened here. The body is fairly light, but I think that's a feature, not a bug. For a BSDA, there isn't too much yeast in the flavor, but that's just fine too.
Overall, this is pretty good. It's one of the better beers I've had from Silver City. It's not in the same league as the well known BSDAs, but it's quite tasty, and well worth a try.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown with thin khaki head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Looks almost like a stout. Aroma is plums, hints of light stone fruit, bourbon, Belgian yeast, a bit boozy. Flavor follows with dark and light stone fruit, lots of bourbon, oak and woody vanilla, finishing with lightly estery fruit flavors with an odd mint or terpene component which is unexpected but pleasant. A bit boozy, but the bourbon and dark Belgian ale have combined nicely and woody oak gives it a nice earthy flavor. I liked the base Giant ale and this is a well done barrelled version. Very tasty and warming.
