This is a REALLY nice Scotch Ale. Not sure what the barrel aging has done for it but I'm comparing it to Scotty karate Scotch Ale which is equally superb. Fruity smell, Scotchy but no burn for being nearly 10%. Extreamly smooth and medium to fullmouth feel excellent.

22oz (2013) into a tulip. Pours a clear mahogany w/ a 1-finger off-white head that settles to a thin film and collar.

Aroma is sweet and malty. Dark stone fruit, brown sugar, toffee, caramel, and bourbon.

Taste, off the bat, makes me wince a little bit. Very sweet. Brown sugar, caramel, toffee, bourbon, vanilla. Subtle spice, mostly cinnamon and nutmeg. As it warms and I get a little more used to the taste, I start to enjoy it more.

Mouthfeel is thick and heavy, rich and creamy. Lingering aftertaste.

Overall a big boozy sweet heavy beer. Maybe not the best choice for a warm August night, but tasty all the same.
