Gold Mountain Pilsner

I bought a bomber of Gold Mountain Pilsner at the brewery while visiting in the area. Poured in to a pilsner glass.

Pours a very pale yellow color and is clear. A rich foamy head forms, and maintains some resiliency. Few bubbles in the beer, it appears mildly carbonated for the style.

Smell is mild, sweet and floral. Bit of a perfume or sweet vinegar aroma.

The taste is grainy, cereal with a white wine vinegar flavor, and a dry bitterness at the end. There is a real white wine flavor to this brew.

Mouthfeel is light and just a bit cloying. A lack or carbonation makes it feel a little flat,

A drinkable beer. I'm not much on the style, and the pilsner I do have a history wiith is Canadian and called Old Style. If and when I go back to the brewery this probably won't be my choice, but it's a nice beer if you like the style.

Haybale or spun gold color with pale clarity and splayed lace. Gold Mountain is a dry, clean summer seasonal with a slight tang towards the finish. That finish does tend to drag a bit, perhaps even to wilt. But it’s still a very easy beer to drink and would work well with anything on the SS menu. Plus, the macro crowd won’t notice it isn’t BMC derived, and that counts for something in this town.

I go back and forth as to whether I really like pilsners that much. I suppose I do when they're done very well. This one poured straw gold nestled beneath a blanket of head. I even got minimal lacing on the way down. Nose is of slight grain and hint of lemon. Taste is grain, lemon, a touch of grapefruit, and a minor bit of spiciness. This would fall under the category of a pils that I feel is done very well. Mouth is medium bodied, and good for the style. This would be a great beer to bring on a picnic with non-ba's ... I think the average person could really warm up to this beer.

Reviewed this off tap at the brewery on a Sunday afternoon. Light golden color, lots of bubble rising to surface. Frothy 1/2 inch head that just sits there.

Smell is citrus, lemon, orange, wheat grain, and hops. Not the expected NW hop flavor thoug, this was more of a Czech hop, but the beer overall was still very american in flavor.

mmm, light on the tongue, but enough hoppy goodness there to tease the tongue a bit.

Great starter, or session brew. My starter today as I plan on reviwing a few more beers here this afternoon. Very good , somewhat adveterous pils.

Appearance – Very light and clear with a white head that foamed up nicely.

Smell – The faint, musty aroma of very light fruits leads off this one. I can also find a touch of citrusy hops.

Taste – There’s a small but sharp bitter hop bite to this one. The faint fruit from the nose though finds its way to the tongue. The grain compliment is too big, IMO.

Mouthfeel – Light, crisp and refreshing.

Drinkability – This went down well enough. I have found it almost hopeless though trying to find a good German Pilsner out of a US brewery. This ale was OK but was way off the style.
