Poured from 500mL bottle into a tulip.
Appearance: completely, utterly black, with a thick two fingers of frothy dark-tan foam atop. Lovely indeed.
Smell: quite sweet with notes of chocolate underpin a big bourbon aroma. Then the orange comes through, complementing the chocolate, as well as the vanilla in the bourbon. Very nice indeed.
Taste: more of what the aroma had to offer, although a bit more heavy on the bourbon. This is a big boy -- lots of flavors, lots of depth, lots of boozy heat. The orange doesn't play quite as well in the flavor as it does in the aroma, but overall, this is a darn tasty beer.
Mouthfeel: medium-rich body with a moderate carbonation and a nice, smooth creaminess. Not bad!
Overall: this is a strange and interesting beer -- I like it, but the orange and the bourbon kind of work at odds to each other. The orange works with the vanilla *part* of the bourbon, but not as well with the wood and the booze.

Poured into a Pint Defiance tulip. The body is pitch black with a brown finger head. Aromas consist of orange, dark chocolate, vanilla, and roasted malt. You know those chocolate oranges you have to crack? It's basically a dark chocolate version of that. Flavors are the same. Sweetness is lower than expected. Heavy body with low carbonation. ABV seems noticeable, but not in a bad way.
