A collaboration between Washington-local Pursuit Distilling and Silver City Brewery, The Magnificent Pursuit is a unique, multi-layered barrel-aged project that sees our legendary Magnificent Scotch Ale aged in barrels that were used to age whiskey...whiskey that itself had been created through the distillation of Magnificent Scotch Ale. Enjoy the rich, nutty caramel notes imparted by the oak alongside the vibrant smoky character of Magnificent’s peated malt.

Excellent ‘big’ Scotch Ale. Velvet mouthfeel. Malty as all get-out, as expected. Dark fruits predominate. Pretty boozy, but in a mellow manner. I’d surely buy another.

Poured into a MacAndrew's thistle glass. Pours a medium to dark orange-red with a quarter finger khaki head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma of plums, raisins, caramel malt, a touch of vanilla and light peat. Flavor is dry caramel malt, plums, raisins, mild whiskey and a touch of peat. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. Another variation on Silver City's Magnificent Scotch ale series. This is most like the Big Magnificent Bastard, but I found this one a little lighter in malt that version. This is a fine wee heavy base with dark fruit flavors and a touch of peat; the whiskey is noticeable, but mellow. Not much barrel oak. Whiskey and Scotch ales go well together and this is a fine domestic barreled brew.
