Grizz is a modern IPA brewed with a massive dose of mosaic cryo hops and oats. Although the beer is clear, the mouthfeel is still juicy from the oats. Clarity of the beer also allows for more carbonation, creating a beer that is juicy but not sludgy, and refreshingly dry. We are always trying to push the boundaries of all the beer we make, and IPAs are no exception.

On tap at the brewery. Bright orange color with a thin lacing of bubbles. Smells of grapefruit. Medium feel. Taste is more malt-forward than most west coast IPAs, also some grapefruit flavors and a bitter finish. A nice malty IPA, but pretty average for the style otherwise.

22oz bottle into tulip.
A: Pours a light caramel color, darker than expected, with a very dense and oily off-white head that slowly faded into a dense and greasy cap of foam. Sticky chunks of lace were left down the glass.
S: Tons of sticky pine sap and hop resin mixed with sweet caramel malt and a touch of biscuit, bread crust, and roasted scents.
T: Pint and evergreen hop flavors dominate with hints of ambiguous citrus and slight mango in the finish. Malt backbone is prominent, more so than I’d like, with flavors of toasted biscuit and caramel. The finish has a lingering resinous bitterness, and the aftertaste is sweet and sticky and full of pine sap and roast. Sweetness reminds me of candied dates or other candied fruit.
M: Medium-full body, chewy, sticky, and oily hop mouthfeel, with soft and smooth carbonation. The bitterness is coats the mouth with a pine sap stickiness.
O: A bit too malty, caramely, and roasted for my liking, but the hop punch was definitely there and has a nice pine sap and hop oil resin quality to it. I was expected to be wowed, but this was just ok.

Dark smokey amber color with plenty of foam. Sharp and spritzy on the tongue. Pleasant aroma of grilled mango with some honeysuckle. Modest maltiness with a bitterness that doesn't quit.
Rather acidic after some sipping. Woody and bitter finish. Not much of a contender in the big IPA circuit. Harsh aftertaste. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Healthy Spirits in San Francisco.

Pours a thin head on a clear dark straw body.
The aroma is mild caramel.
The taste is rich caramel sweetness and bold pine bitter.
The texture is thicker.
Nice flavor and enjoyable.
