Buzzerkeley Red Label is the sociability of beer and the sophistication of wine. Fresh-pressed Napa and Sonoma red wine pomace give depth to the effervescence of Sparkling Ale (a.k.a. beer fermented with wine yeast). Boysenberry, dark cocoa, and rye spice shine through layered tannin structure. Fruit-forward and dry, this ale blurs the line between beer and wine.

750ml bottle into tulip.

A: Pours a deep amber/maroon with fizzy and short-lived off white head that faded into a very thin collar.
S: The nose is full of musty and vinous red wine mixed with sweet grape juice. The fruit profile on the nose almost reminds me of a Belgian dubbel or dark ale. I get hints of candied dates, caramel, dark fruits, fruit punch, as well a just a hint of cocoa. Very sweet and fruity overall.
T: Follows the nose with flavors of red wine and fruit juice flavors up front, with sweet esters, champagne yeast, golden apple, and other buzzerkeley flavors. The finish has a kick of spice and more of the sweet vinous flavors. The sweet base beer mixed with the pomace creates a grape juice/fruit punch flavor. A kiss of spice lingers in the aftertaste.
M: Fuller body, sweet overall but finishes on the dry side from the champagne yeast. Slick mouthfeel, tingly carbonation.
O: Much sweeter than I was expecting, but this definitely promises on the vinous grape flavors. Check this out if you’re a fan of darker Belgian beers or sweet malty brews.

A: Reddish brown

S: Tree sap, raisin, light caramel.

T/MF: More of the same. Tree sap, raisin, caramel. A bit heavy on the hops.

Poured from tap, into a pint glass.

Pours a clear orange-brown with a foamy tan head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Tiny particles of sediment are seen suspended in the beer after the pour. Smell is of malt, earth, dirt, and dark fruit aromas. Taste is much the same with earth, dirt, dark fruit, and berry flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer that is drinkable, but the smell on this one has a slightly better mix of characteristics to me.

Serving type: bottle.

Interesting cross between beer and sparkling wine. Fruity and a bit musty.

Pours a deep amber ruby red, with a light off white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma starts off with some sweet yeasty breadiness, as well as a big pop of fruity esters including strawberry. VERY Light tartness up front, followed by smooth rich jamminess...a nice refreshing beer.
