500ml brown glass bottle with branded silver pry-off pressure cap acquired at a beer shop in Krakow and served into a pilsner glass in me friend's gaff there. Best before: 2014-09-28. Reviewed live. 5.0% ABV. 13.1 degrees. "German IPA,"
Served cold. Side-poured with standard vigor as no carbonation issues are anticipated.
No bubble show forms as it's poured.
HEAD: One finger wide. White colour. Decent thickness and creaminess. No lacing sticks to the sides of the glass as the head recedes. Retention is average - about 2 minutes. Average complexion and consistency.
BODY: Clear light yellow of average vibrance. Clean; no yeast particulate or hop sediment is visible.
Appears adequately carbonated. Not unique or special. Generally appealing for an IPA.
AROMA: Pleasant floral hop notes. Pale malts. Clean barley. Helles malts.
No yeast character, alcohol, or off-notes are detectable.
A pleasant but unremarkable aroma of average strength. I can't say the hop notes are particularly evocative here.
TASTE: Floral hop character. Pale malts. Clean barley. It's balanced decently, but overall it's fairly unimpressive. Average depth, duration, and intensity of flavour. It's quite simple; there's little to say about it.
Not intricate, subtle, or real nuanced. The hop notes are unimpressive, and insufficient.
TEXTURE: Smooth, wet, light, light-to-medium bodied, fairly thick, and refreshing. Slightly overcarbonated.
Not oily, gushed, hot, boozy, astringent, harsh, rough, or scratchy.
OVERALL: Drinkable but boring and bland for an IPA. Unimpressive, but likable. I wouldn't buy it again, but it's a decent little Polish beer. I'll easily finish the bottle with my friend, but I can't recommend this to friends or trade partners.
