Copenhagen 5/8 2019. 50 cl bottle from AlkoSpot Chmielna, Gdansk. Dark label with colorful figures and what looks like a badly sewn tennis ball with a feather on the side.
Pours opaque, dark brown with a medium-sized off-white head. Settles as 1 cm thick layer of dense foam covering the surface of the beer. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is intense, roasted, lightly citric and perfumed. Dark roasted malts, caramel,. Lighter odor of Grape fruit and Citrus. Bitter sweet dark chocolate with hints of licorice rummaging in the background.
Medium strong carbonation. Medium thick, oily, soft, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is medium sweet followed by a stronger, citric, slightly rough bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter and a little soapy. Lingers for a while.
Nice roasty black IPA. Could do without the soapy tang.
