Copenhagen 24/10 2018. 50 cl bottle from Ninkasira Bottleshop, Kbh N. Very green label with some kind of stylized leafs which reminds me of the logo of a small local bank.

Pours hazy amber with medium-sized yellowish head. Settles as 0,5 cm thick layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Substantial lacing.

Aroma is fruity with a hint of fermentation. Exotic fruit with notes of decay, citric odor of American Hops. A bit stale.

Light carbonation. Slightly thick, lightly prickly texture.

Flavor is everything but stale. Lightly sweet sweet followed by strong bitterness. A little harsh and overwhelming. Aftertaste is bitter. Lingers for a while. Semi-dry finish.

Nice bitter IPA. A bit weak in the aroma but the taste have a good bite. And I love that the recommended food is salted peanuts.

Reviewing again as I was pretty smashed last time.

Impressive appearance with aromas of tinned peaches and fresh passion fruit. Maybe also some dragon fruit. Aroma is fruity as opposed to bitter.

Definitely west coast IPA style. And great value. However it's not particulary fresh tasting, bitter or unique to be amazing. The malt has a little of the zwiec or mocne beer heaviness. Flavours I detect include peach, cucumber, mango and some pruney bitterness. But it lacks the mouth feel of a quality West Coast IPA from the actual West Coast (of America). I think there is a stronger version of this somewhere so I will go to search for it, that could definitely be good. Yes this is less than £2 for a bottle, which is pretty impressive as if this was brewed in England, America, Belgium or Germany, it would be double the price.

For me Ukrainian beers are the best value in the world, 2nd is Poland, and this demonstrates why.

Great IPA, just not amazing.

Bottle. Hazy auburn. Wispy head.
Sweet floral and grassy hop aroma. Malt is apparent but not pronounced.
Malt becomes more noticeable upon tasting and now balancing the hops noticed in the bouquet.
Medium body and carbonation.
Improved as it was drunk.

Review from notes taken Summer 2014:

15.1 degrees. "IPA" 500ml brown glass bottle served into a bierkrug in Krakow.

Expectations are high going in given Pinta's reputation in Poland.

No bubble show forms as it's poured.

HEAD: 2 fingers worth of height. Light khaki colour. Nice creaminess and frothiness to its consistency. Good complexion.

No lacing forms as it recedes. Has a nice (~4-5 minute) head retention.

BODY: Dark vibrant amber in colour. Transparent. Translucent. Clean, lacking any visible yeast/sediment (appears filtered).

Overall, it's a good looking IPA that eschews the usual generic copper colour in favor of a deeper hue. I'm looking forward to trying it.

Appears well-carbonated.

AROMA: Toasted malts, amber malts, bread crust, floral hop aromatics, some faint pine. Bread crust dominates.

Not the hoppy aroma I expected, but very inviting albeit mild in terms of aromatic intensity.

I detect no overt yeast, nor is there any overt alcohol (or other off-notes).

TASTE: Bread crust, amber malts, lovely toasted malt character, light floral hop notes, hints of pine, some concomitant hop bitterness.

Well balanced with a cohesive blend of flavours (though it falls short of exceeding the sum of its flavours/really feeling gestalt).

Boasts above average depth of flavour. Flavour duration and intensity are average.

Nice complexity and subtlety. I like it, though it is a bit light in terms of hop flavour if we're judging it strictly as an IPA.

TEXTURE: Smooth and wet. Has nice softness to it. Well carbonated. Aptly thick and medium-bodied. Not overbearing. Complements the style well.

Not oily, gushed, hot, boozy, astringent, harsh, rough, or scratchy. Well executed across the board.

OVERALL: The bread crust and toasted malts are lovely but bring this closer to tasting like an amber ale. An unexpected treat of a Polish beer and one I'd definitely get again even if it doesn't quite deliver in terms of its intended style. Balanced and very drinkable...definitely worth trying when in Poland.

On cask at Omerta, Krakow.
Cherry amber with whipped cream sparkler head. 4
Lots of candied orange with some vanilla and a touch of honey. 3.75
Big toffee and red hard candy, then herbal oil, Seville orange and grass. 3.75
Lots of IBUs.
Smooth, almost medium, oily. 4

Old school, but brings the oil. Dead silky on cask, though a touch oxidized, too. Too sweet, but if Polish craft started here, I’m in good hands. 4

Deep amber color with beige head. Aroma has earthy hops and a caramel malt backbone. Taste has slightly sweet "hop candy", earthy bitterness with grapefruit and orange peel. Medium, soft mouthfeel. A well made IPA in the classic style.
