Also called merely: "Smoked Ale"
Deep amber bodied brew with a frothy, but short lived yellow-tinted head.
Lacks the nice bamburg smokiness on the nose. Just smells sort of burnt.
Fortunately, the taste is fairly authentic, if somewhat toned down. Subdued meaty, woody smoke is layered on carmel malt sweetness. A touch of hops adds a spicy flourish in the finish. A very simplistic, yet fairly effective smoked ale. A good intro to the style.
Moderate mouthfeel teetering towards the thin side.
The best J.T. Whitney's brew I have had thus far.
