Spent an hour or so here one a summers evening in July '11
Catch the S7 train from the city centre, approx 25/30 minutes
The Brauhaus is inside the former station building (Victorian era I guess - see picture) and the coppers are on show as you head down the stairs to the WC
As it was a balmy evening we sat in the beer garden and I got the impression the server may have forgotten about us at one point as we had to wait some time between drinks (despite it being empty inside also)
Hefeweizen was the house beer and was a good representation of the style
Beers also available from Hofbrauhaus Traunstein Brauerei, but we just stuck with the tasty house beer
Off the beaten track and a nice location, but if you're on a whistle stop tour of Munchen, perhaps not worth the effort of leaving the town centre for this one?!?

I decided to go here yesterday. It is on the S7, I think just barely in the 3rd ring. It isn't too far from the city-center but definitely in the boonies comparatively.
Me and my friend sat in front of it at a table, there were some bees at one point, but they moved on.
It still has somewhat high prices despite being so far form the city center, but it is for sure cheaper. The beer was like 3,10 for a half liter so below most Munich prices. It was delicious. The food is pretty good, though they seem to have mostly expensive dishes.
The service here was really friendly and attentive. Overall I would make it a stop if you go to Munich, the beer is pretty good.

This fairly new brewpub is situated in a former rail-station on the S-7 subway line just outside of Munchen. Very nice decor in a rustic-looking place. Lots of bier and train memorabalia cover all the walls. The brew kettles are visible just as you enter, and tours are sometimes available. The service was a bit spotty, but the bier I sampled (a HefeWeizen) was top-notch. In addition, they serve some brews from HofbrauHaus Traunstein. You can also get 2 and 5 litre containers of their bier to go, and parties can be arranged for groups where bier and munchies are offered. One drawback is the too-frequent placement of ads for Lucky Strike butts on table tent-cards, ashtrays, and the servers shirts. Stop here for a solo visit, or hit it in combo with the very close-by biergarten "Waldwirtschaft Grosshesselohe" (WaWi to the locals). Prosit!!
