Pours a burnt auburn kind of color. Looks malty AF. 1/3" off white head on the top. Aroma of maltiness and bittering hops, mostly C in name. Disappointing the beer barely smells of hops. And I mean, it didn't smell like a volcano at all.
Taste, well, perhaps the volcano reference (I know, its Lassen Brewing, by Mt Shasta, a volcano) is because this beer tastes super hot like lava. I think I heard volcanoes can have toxic fumes, but I wouldn't say the nose was toxic, just not pleasant. Mouth feel was like you were drinking a lighter version of an American barleywine, all kinds of sticky malt and all bittering hops going on. No, you know what? It isn't a lighter version of an American barleywine, it is a beer that tastes like it is a blend of American barleywine and red ale.
The stickers didn't come off these cans for shit. I can't recommend this shit, I dunno what it is with that upper part of California, but it definitely lacks what the rest of the state has in terms of good/very good/excellent/world class hoppy beers.

Copper with little carbonation, a light haze and 3 fingers of beige head.
Smells of orange jello, pine, and a light fruitiness.
Tastes sweet and malty with a hint of orange, and a long lasting dull, tannic bitterness.
Medium light body with little carbonation.
I got this in Chester, CA today near Lassen, and am drinking it in Redding, Aug 7th, 2019. More of an amber ale, if it was, I would rate it higher.

Pours a cloudy orange color with a thin white head.
Aromas are of oranges and hard candies.
Taste is slightly creamy up front, a bit sweet, with some cracker notes. Finish is dry, and bitter, with some light citrus notes.
Mouthfeel is smooth with good body.
Overall a decent DIPA. Just needs some more hop flavors other than mostly just bitterness that comes through.
