Poured into a snifter, the appearance was a dark black color with a thin cap of a tan little head. Swiftly dies off and leaves no lace.
The aroma arranges a nice blend of roast to bitter to sweet of dark fruits, coffee beans, vanilla beans, and cocoa beans. Caramel ever so slightly but seemingly only to balance.
The flavor seems to embrace the blend of sweet to roast and adding a touch of bitter just underneath. The caramel and dark fruits seem to balance nicely to enliven a nice ebb and flow from aftertaste back to the flavor and then follow through on into the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fair sipping quality about it. ABV felt as projected by the brewer.
Overall, very nicely done RIS that I would love to have again.
