Northern Native American tribes believed that the Red Fox was a wise and noble messenger. Other tribes saw her as a dangerous prankster. Foxy Red IPA is a bit of both. This sly girl creeps out of her den when the night air gets just a little chill and the Autumn leaves begin to turn. Don’t be fooled by the color as Centennial & Columbus hops, bursting with their piney and fruity resins, combine with this rich, red ale to create a perfect balance of juicy hops and bready malt to usher you gently into the colder months. This seasonal IPA won’t be around long, so catch her if you can.

Enjoyed an imperial pint with a late lunch at the City Tap in D.C. on 10-31-22 for $13.50.
Beer was served red with a nice white head.
Nose was a nice bouquet of citrus and herbal hops.
Taste was a nice caramel and pale malt base spiced nicely with grapefruit and finishing with a slightly bitter pine hop finish; 6/10 on my scale.
Mouthfeel was nice medium bodied and both smooth and refreshing.
Overall a nice Celebration clone, glad i could experience this!

Nice red-amber color, fine head, not fizzy, slightly sweet. just the right amount of alcohol. Hops don't get in the way of the barley.

Clear copper appearance with a large off white head and good lacing. Resinous hop aroma works well with the toasty malts. Same relationship develops in the taste. The earthy malty base is well suited to bring out the best of the piney, floral hops. Balanced bitterness lingers in the aftertaste.

Another beautiful looking beer. Awesome crystal clear dark red, with a light brown head that laces and stays in the form of a thin creamy layer that linger and lingers.
The smell is very pungent and resiny. I’d say it’s pretty close to sticking your nose in a sack of spruce needles and taking a whiff, heavenly! Also hiding in there is some roasty malt notes and if even say a touch of something fruity. I’d say dark berry if I had to pick but I like the “fruity” descriptor just fine.
The taste is much the same very very pine forward, followed by a malty fruity backend. The fruit sort of comes out and lingers after the sip. But again the pine, and I’ll go far as to say sap, is front and center.
Mouthfeel takes the pine to the next level. All the aspects of it accentuate that pine for me. It’s very bitter and finishes clean and dry giving it a very resin/sappy vibe.

Pours a warm, medium amber shade evocative of the can art. Mouth-watering aroma, mildly fruity and piney. Has a sharp, strongly hopped flavor, thick on the tongue but leaves a mildly sweet aftertaste. Unique for the mid-range IPA market, it's worth checking out. One of my favorites from Union.

Nice spin on a smooth red ale that is not excessively hoppy. If as claimed its an IPA?...seems more Brit than US style despite American hops. Nice job...again... Union.

Slightly hazy amber, nice white head, with good retention and lace
Aroma of pine, a bit of citrus, and generic "fruitiness"
Piney hops, some grapefruit, solid malty background without being sweet or caramelly
Perfect mouthfeel and carbonation for an IPA
Awesome throwback. I look forward to this beer every fall.
Edit 1/11/25: New recipe has Mosaic in it. I don't like it as much..

From the can, it pours a slightly hazy reddish amber with a robust head. It leaves lacing as you enjoy it. Nicely hoppy to the nose. The mouth gets the hop flavor, along with some malt. Yum!

I have a drinking buddy who makes regular forays down to Bawlmer for work, hon. He sometimes returns with beers to hand out in a CANta Claus capacity & this was one of them. It is always nice to welcome new beers to The CANQuest (tm)! My thanks go out to him.

I Crack!ed this little fox open, but I wanted to be respectful, so I gave her a gentle Glug into the awaiting glass. Once there, however, a vigorous in-glass swirl was in order to see what she had in store for me. Two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, tawny head later & I was beginning to see the error of my ways. Color was a gorgeous Deep-Amber/Light-Copper to Copper (SRM = > 13, < 17) with NE-quality clarity. 8=O Her pelt was the same color as an old flame's hair! I always said that Linda Lou was a fox. Nose was both earthy with the CANbination of Marris Otter, Munich, Vienna, Crystal and Pale Chocolate malts as well as dank and biting from the Columbus, Centenial, Mosaic and Cascade hops. My mouth was watering unCANtrollably! Mouthfeel was medium, but nothing to get excited about. What did excite me was its taste! I really tasted pine from the Cascade and I also got the earthiness of the Marris Otter & Munich, but there was a bit of chocolate in the mix, which might have been unexpected had I not looked on their website. Finish was dry, but not as biting as their measured 75 IBUs. I think that the malts took off some of the edge, but it was still quite hoppy. I'd happily drink some more.
