Pours hazy dark yellow from the can, light 0.5" head, no lacing. Nose is light coffee, corn, lemon peel, milk. Taste is has a mild, rounded sweetness that's well balanced by some bitter, earthy noble hop and some fresh grain on the finish. Not picking up a ton of distinct coffee flavor here, though there is enough bitterness for me to accept that it's there. Mouthfeel is super soft and full without being heavy. Overall, a nice, low ABV take on the coffee cream ale variant.

This is an interesting hybrid style that has arisen and I am intrigued as to how UC, who I respect a lot as a brewer, will choose to interpret it. Pretty honey color and no head and a busy nose with a light bread note, noble hops and stanky coffee holding court. This is a bit of an oxymoron as the flavor is big but the body is light and the taste is roasted and earthy, yet resiny bitterness is what I get most in the finish. Still, as a cream ale it is refreshing, moderately carbonated, and easy to slam. Eclectic but workmanlike performance from union.

Had a pint of the volume AM Gold Vol. VI at Dan's Taphouse in Boonsboro MD. Decent beer, but not quite as sessionable as other cream ales. This one has a roasty/smokey quality to it and I suppose its from the coffee additive. Decent, but not quite up to the level of some of Unions other lighter beers.

On draft at Max's. Very tasty cream ale but I got very little coffee in the or taste. I am curious what others think of this version.

This is a crazy beer without seeming too crazy. Nice execution by Union with this one--all kinds of earthy coffee in a medium bodied cream ale. Much better than stone's master of disguise. Yeah, yeah, they're diff styles, but similar idea.
