On tap:
Pours a hazy cloud of dirty burnt orange. Not quite the golden strong ale I'm used to. Head of structured small bubbles lingers a while.
This has a lighter than expected feel, with moderate carbonation that feels like the small bubbles that firm the head.
The nose is lightly sweet and has a citrus side, with the yeast showing some Belgian notes.
Taste starts to show the light candi sweetness and banana esters, but still has a hint of citrus zest (orange-ish). There's a bit of bubblegum as it warms, too.
Not bad, it hits on some notes, but has others that are iffy to style. Ignoring style, it's a fine, sweet-leaning American version of a Belgian ale.
