Brewed in collaboration with Baltimore-based Michele's Granola, and inspired by Michele's original recipe, our Michele's Granola Porter is a rich, deep, dark porter brewed with almonds and vanilla.

The aroma boasts bold chocolate notes from the dark malts, with hints of almond and sweet vanilla. This medium bodied porter coats your tongue in chocolatey malty goodness and then leans into a balanced blend of almond and vanilla.

Grab a bag of Michele's Original and pour this beer into a snifter to pair this porter with a wholesome and delicious snack!

A granola porter sounds interesting without being *too* much of a stupid gimmick.

Pour is very dark, damn near opaque, although the body doesn't appear to be especially thick.

Aroma is deep and smooth milk chocolate along with a touch of vanilla. Exquisite.

Tastes great upfront: the same smooth chocolate and vanilla as the aroma. The middle and finish are a bit thin, however, and the aftertaste has a little small bit of ersatz-ness too it. The sweetness is really perfect, though: intense but not cloying, and that's enough to carry the beer.

Poured from a can into a pint glass.

Appearance: Dark brown, nearly opaque. Sizable off-white head.

Smell: Brown sugar, granola, nuts, maple candy, and dark malt. Pleasant.

Taste: Classic porter -- roasty and toasty malt, but not acrid. Granola flavor is present, too. Dry chocolate.

Feel: Creamy up front, but dry finish. Carbonation is a little sharp but not excessive.

Pours an extremely dark ruby color, just a few SRM off of being pitch-black. I really like how multi-faceted the aroma comes across. Granola is first picked up, leaning more towards nuttiness as it opens up a little. Vanilla remains subtle throughout. There are also touches of roast, smoke, and a bit of espresso. Being a Luddite, I've yet to sample Michele's Granola, but if this beer's aroma is any indication, it's probably really damn good. On the palate, vanilla flavors hit first. This sweetness quickly subsides to reveal nice amounts of roasted malt, baker's cocoa, and (duh) granola. Almond notes finish it off. Make no mistake - this leans on the dry side, even for a porter (to the point where one could call it an Irish dry stout and almost get away with it). Despite this, it's quite well balanced and easy to like. Did I say dry? The initially creamy texture leads to a *very* dry finish, but without any sharp angles a porter can feature. Carbonation is quite low. I'm a fan; I appreciate how it isn't overly sweet (despite the vanilla), and I appreciate that it still seems moderately complex while retaining an easygoing nature.

3.96/5: A beer good enough to make me search for the actual product inspired by it
