Introducing: Port To Port – a Czech-style Half Dark Lager brewed in collaboration with our friends at Port City Brewing in Alexandria, Virginia. Union has long admired and respected Port City’s approach to beer and business and when Brewer Jonathan Reeve’s reached out about collaborating on a beer, choosing a style was easy. Our breweries both love to flex their traditional and old-world brewing techniques, and together wanted to brew something really special.
Port To Port is a “Polotmavé” or Half-Dark Lager. It is unfiltered and lagered for well over three months to give the beer time to naturally clear. The color is a dark orange/amber and the aroma is of fresh malt with hints of caramel. You can expect a medium body with clean, crisp malty backbone highlighted by the Czech hop character, and dry finish. This traditional Czech Lager is a collaboration that both breweries are excited for you to try. From Port To Port, everyone deserves a good beer.

12 ounce can pored into a Pilsner glass.
L: Clear and copper with rising bubbles, two plus finger cream-white, rocky head which slowly fades to a thin cap.
A: Toasty biscuit and caramel malt aromas, with spicy hops to a lesser degree.
T: Same as nose, medium sweet malt, restrained bitterness.
F: Light body, medium-high carbonation, more crisp than soft, fairly clean.
O: Interesting and a pleasure to drink.

Nice and light with a touch of caramel sweetness. More like a Vienna lager to be honest for comparison. Good beer, nice and sessionable for a 2nd pint if desired. Union makes solid offerings.

Gorgeous clear deep copper appearance with an average size, fast fading head and little lacing. Earthy, caramel malt aroma coexisting with soft ripe fruit. Subdued, malt dominated, light toast taste except for a bit of spicy hops in the aftertaste. Clean, dry lingering finish. Unique style. A welcome change.
