Poured from a 341ml bottle

L: A cloudy golden brown.

S: Orange coriander slight sweetness with almost a hint of smoke.

T: Sweet that finishes with a smokey sweetness, it has a nice taste of wheat and a slight spice from coriander.

F: Light bodied but high carbination that brings out the smoky flavor.

O: Not a bad beer from this pack, I'm just hoping that they get better.

Brewed in collaboration with Steel & Oak Brewing.

Appearance - Pours an amber with a finger of bubbly white head.

Smell - musty and peaty smoked malts, faint earthy hops, and yeast.

Taste - Starts off with the musty and peaty smoked malts then goes into the the yeast. The brew finishes off with a faint hit from the earthy hops.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes with a lingering smokiness.

Overall - A sub par kellerbier. I wish they would of mentioned that this is a "smoked kellerbier". The elements of this brew are not working in unison together.

Not being overly familiar with this style, I was not quite sure what to expect. I wasn't disappointed, but I wasn't wowed, either. The smoky flavour was a surprise, but it somehow missed the mark for me.

From Parallel 49 Brewing in collaboration with Steel & Oak Brewing Co. As part of the Brews Brothers Collaboration mixed pack -This pours a hazy copper colour with a thin white head. The nose reveals smoke, yeast and a caramel malt. The taste is quite a bit more subdued, with yeast, grass and malt stepping forward and a hop bitterness on the finish. The mouthfeel is a bit on the watery side.

341ml bottle, part of the Brew Brothers mixed-pack, a collaboration with Steel & Oak Brewing. The name must be referring to the old Muddy Waters tune (I hope so, otherwise it's shilling for Esso).

This beer pours a clear, bright medium copper amber hue, with one finger of puffy, loosely foamy, and yet mildly creamy dirty white head, which leaves a bit of rising landmass lace around the glass as it gently subsides.

It smells of musty, kind of meaty smoked caramel malt, a soft funky yeastiness, tanned leather, and very weak earthy, leafy hops. The taste is grainy, gritty caramel malt, wet ash, softening funky notes, a bit of raw dough, dark sugar, roasted indistinct black orchard fruit, and singed leafy, weedy, and faintly citrusy hops.

The carbonation is adequate in its mere supportive duties, the body a decent medium weight, and actually fairly smooth, despite that weirdly unexpected smokiness. It finishes off-dry, the roasted caramel malt, lingering BBQ'd fruit, and other ashy notes carrying on like 'twas no big thing.

WTF? Since when do Kellerbiers come off all smoked to the nuts? Maybe 500 years ago when they just couldn't help it in the brewing process? But now, the style is much more crisp and clean, and not really anything like this. Of course, if they'd informed us on the label that this was smoked, then we'd be having a different one-way conversation right now.

In the name of science I decided to keep an open mind about this one. It does have a distinct earthiness which makes sense for the style however i wouldn't go so far as to say that it stinks!

There is a nice little hint of wild strawberry that lingers on the back of the tongue saving this beer from being a complete miss. Its got a bright light profile, but is dragged down by hints of metal and mustyness. The carbonation is almost over the top, think barq's rooter, but it would be good with curry or a cream sauce.
