Brewed in collaboration with Brassneck.

Appearance - Pours a pale gold with two fingers of bubbly white head.

Smell - grassy hops, biscuity malts, citrus (lemon, orange), straw.

Taste - Bitter grassy hops upfront followed by the biscuity malts. The lemon and straw round out the brew.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes crisp with a lingering bitterness and sourness from the lemon.

Overall - A well rendered example of the Imperial Pilsner style. One of the better examples I have come across.

This is a dandy beer! I'm quite impressed with this "amped up" pilsner rendition. I'm not sure what else to say. This is a bready, hoppy, beautifully coloured beer that I could easily drink all night long.

Tasting notes: Light yellow hue, quite fizzy. Big cracker-like malt and grass nose with a whiff of grape. Palate much the same ... Some alcohol burn but not excessive, a little buttery in the mouth, pungent grassy hops, grape candy, like a Czech pils on steroids. Big green leafy finish that purges some of the sweetness. Low key take on the "double pils" style.

341ml bottle, part of the Brews Brothers mixed pack, this one a collaboration with Brassneck Brewing, and the blues song title in this case being attributable to a one Roy Hawkins.

This beer pours a clear, bright pale golden yellow hue, with two fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and certainly bubbly bone-white head, which leaves some decent collapsing layered cake lace around the glass as things quickly bleed away.

It smells of bready, biscuity, and doughy pale malt, aged lemon, the suggestion of gasohol, and a spicy, leafy, and grassy hop bitterness. The taste is more grainy, bready pale malt, wet soda crackers, lemon juice, a still wafting petrol astringency, and sharp leafy, weedy, and grassy hops.

The bubbles are nicely peppy and structured, in their genial frothy manner, the body a solid medium weight, and mostly smooth, the assertive noble hops, and a lingering booze heat starting to make inroads. It finishes off-dry, but barely, the cereal-like character of the malt waning, while the hops continue getting fresh with their new understated alcohol friend.

One of the better versions of this amped-up style that I have yet come across, perhaps because the ABV falls into the very lowest end of the listing, I dunno. Anyways, lots of Continental Pils goodness going on, with a booze factor that only renders things slightly beyond the norm, but enough to be noticed, so here we are, in Double/Imperial territory, I guess.

Nice golden yellow colour with a thin soft white head, interesting nose, almost soapy, but with redeeming citrus, subtle pine and mellon tones. Drinks nicely, rich but thin body, slight tingle on the tongue. There is a slight bit too much bitterness in this beer, but its preferable to the over-sweetness of most pilsners, its almost an IPA-pilsner hybrid, but the hops come very late and don't decay into a lot of added flavour. Overall, its a pleasant, if slightly bitter, beer.

This is a collaboration between Parallel 49 Brewing Company and Brassneck Brewing as part of the Brews Brothers Collaboration mixed pack. The pours a clear golden straw colour with a thin white head filled with lots of large bubbles. You get some malt notes behind some floral and spicy hop notes. The hoppy bitterness come forward in the taste and honestly kind of takes over. The bitterness sticks around along the sides and back of your tongue. I get a bit a grassiness as well but not much else. It's funny because at first I thought it finished very crisp and clean but as the glass started to empty I noticed that lingering bitterness.
