Brewed in collaboration with Powell Street Brewing.
Appearance - Pours an amber hue with a finger of bubbly white head.
Smell - citrus and earthy hops, bready caramalts, honey sweetness.
Taste - citrus and earthy hops followed by the honey sweetness. The bready caramalts help round out the brew.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes with a lingering sweetness and tad bitter from the hops.
Overall - A sub par DIPA. There are elements of the style in the beer itself, however, the execution is not quite up to par. I expect the hops to be the forefront of the taste. It seems as though the malts and the honey sweetness take dominance in this brew.

Pours a light copper colour with a thick two finger thick beige head. A nice blend of citrus and earth notes lead the nose with a bit of bread and malt on the edges. First thing I get on the taste is a sweet malt followed by a nice earthy hop taste. This is all followed up by a nice alcohol burn. The mouthfeel is on the high medium side with a thick syrupy feel surround by some light bubbles.

Another solid and very agreeable IPA. The high alcohol is not a distraction, in fact, it sneaks up as a pleasant surprise.

Amber/light copper and cloudy. Aroma fairly mild for the style. Pleasant, but not really impressive.

Old school... More bitterness than aroma.

Great nose, yeasty, malty, a bit of honey and toffee. Drinks light for 9%, a tad sour in the bitter notes, good malty caramel, and sour apple. A bit too pungent and a bitterness that builds with drinking.

341ml bottle, a collaboration with Powell Street for the Brews Brothers mixed pack. I'm starting to see a pop music trend in the names of these offerings - does this one reference the Queen song, the 'cold' part being implied?
This beer pours a clear, bright medium copper amber hue, with three fingers of puffy, densely foamy, and bubbly off-white head, which leaves some layered tree branch lace around the glass as it lazily recedes.
It smells of bready, doughy caramel malt, hard toffee, muddled citrus pith bitters, floral pine needles, more sodden leafy and earthy forest notes, and a rather perfumed and bristling alcohol heat. The taste is more astringent pine resin and green forest floor detritus, boozy orange bitters, grainy, bready caramel malt, sugary toffee suckers, kind of bland tropical fruit notes, and an upswing in the perfumed alcohol measure.
The bubbles are adequate in their plain and functional frothiness, the body a stolid medium weight, and a bit too tight from the overarching booze warmth to notice any particular smoothness. It finishes off-dry, the varied hoppiness countering the still heady malt backbone tit-for-tat, while the heat just keeps getting warmer.
Lots of decent big IPA flavours going on here, it's too bad that the 18-proof booze wasn't more ably integrated, a problem I've seen before with this young Van City brewery (I know nothing of Powell Street, other than that they appear to be neighbours to P49). Anyways, a sadly so-so brew, as that's one thing you don't want sticking out, stone cold crazy as one might be.
