341ml bottle poured into tulip 12/5/17

A clear copper liquid, saturated with tiny bubbles but oddly enough not much for head or lace

S over ripe pineapple, iced tea, hard toffee, dry cereal, bruised apple

T grainy with a little spice, doesn't really follow the nose, ok but nothing special

M light bodied, bubbles give it some life, slick inside, leafy finish

O ok brew but nothing really meshes together

I'll stop short of saying this ones a miss but for these guys its one of the more basic brews I've had from them in a while

341ml bottle - nice story about nicking yer Dad's booze as a teenager (I presume) that inspires this one's name (it sure ain't the style or ABV in this more heady day and age, that's fo sho).

This beer pours a clear, bright medium copper amber colour, with three fingers of puffy, rocky, and somewhat creamy off-white head, which leaves some decent Bonsai tree forest lace around the glass as it lazily recedes.

It smells of biscuity and grainy pale malt, very subtle generic citrus rind, a hint of indistinct tropical fruitiness, and some plain leafy, weedy, and floral green hop bitters. The taste is bready and doughy pale malt, a much lesser caramel sweetness, a hint of wayward son yeastiness, bland domestic citrus notes, and more understated leafy, earthy, and grassy hoppiness.

The carbonation is fairly wan in its plain and hard to discern frothiness, the body a so-so middleweight, and mostly smooth, nothing really going on here that would otherwise cause any fuss, as such. It finishes off-dry, the basic bitch malt really still running the show.

Overall, this comes across as a simple and very ordinary version of the style, which I feel bad saying, as at least they didn't go and call it a fucking India Session Ale or some such nonsense. Easy enough put back (duh), but nothing that I would go out of my way for to procure again. Kind of Big Rock-like, sorry to say.

A perfect example of why I don't seek out beers of this style. Although there are notable exceptions, this beer isn't one of them. Bland and boring. Nothing going on here.
