Hazy yellow-straw color. Almost no head formed. Too hazy to see any bubbles rising. No lacing.
Very fruity scent - pears and peaches mostly, but I thought I smelled pineapple for a moment. There is a light barnyard at the beginning of each sniff. Light malt. Swirling the glass kicked up a stronger barnyard.
Pear shows up in the flavor right away. A medium vegetal hop joins in. Mild malt and a light barnyard. Faint stone fruit (indistinct peach or apricot). Slightly sweet. The aftertaste has a brief burst of barnyard. The bitters slowly build to a medium level during the aftertaste as the fruit flavors fade away.
Soft creamy foam quickly forms, despite the visual absence of carbonation. The foam builds to a light tongue tingling. Slight astringency after swallowing.
One of four IPAs in their 2020 Pic-A-Hop package showcasing individual hops. This is a great idea. Unfortunately there is no information on the brewer's web site about this, and web searches suggest they have been doing this for a couple of years at least. Each IPA has a different ABV, so the recipes must be different. I would have made them identical with the exception of the hops.
This is a generally pleasant IPA that is slightly sweet and is going more for flavor than just being another bitter bomb. Much more fruit than the average IPA.
