Pours a relatively darkish amber color with a pretty full white head. Good bubble retention.

Smell is dominated by sweetness and malt. There are hints of biscuit and caramel, more akin to a British pale or IPA than what I am used to in the U.S. version of the style. No real citrus or pine presence here.

Taste is very malty and sweet with a decent hop presence as well. I do taste some citrus here that was not notable on the nose. Definitely not a hop-head IPA flavor and more malty and balanced than the typical West Coast version of the style. That is not a problem for me, but the fact that the flavor is not terribly potent and does not pack much of a taste punch is more of an issue. It's decent, but it's not great.

Woodboy is moderately carbonated and has a well-rounded flavor and decent presence on the palate.

On the whole, this is a decent beer. To my mind, it is atypical for the American IPA style due to the fact that malt really overwhelms hops. But as stated above, I really don't have a huge issue with that. My major beef, if I have one for a beer that I scoring above average, is that it is solid but not terribly memorable. Would I have this beer again? It really depends on what my other options are. There are so many more flavorful and memorable versions of the style both from the Pacific Northwest and elsewhere that I would most likely select one of those options before returning to this one.

I don't remember the beers from this brewery other than the Radio Flyer Red as that one beer is my all-time favorite Red Ale. Gave this one a good rating though.

I was not too stoked with this one. Too sweet and kind of flat and syrupy.

Now in 22 oz bottles. Aroma has subtle dry hops and sweet malts. Taste is too malty sweet for my liking.

Really tasty IPA - great aroma of floral hoppy notes with a hint of lemongrass, smooth refreshing flavor that straddles crispy bitter and warm delight. Finish lingers with orange peel citrus and earth.
