one of the better brown ales going right now, definitely one of the more authentically english ones i have come across. had the pleasure of drinking this one on multiple occasions now, and i like it more and more each time. its an extremely smooth roasty brown ale with notes of toffee and coffee, a cool combination of flavors from the grains used in it. the texture too is memorable, silky and soft from the cask, mild oaky notes, more mature than woody, everything extremely well integrated, with just enough sparkle in terms of carbonation, and a long delicate finish. chocolate and bittering hops collaborate to make the finish unique as well. a very well executed brown ale, maybe my favorite beer from hogshead to date.
