Can't help but notice the first review for this beer from "?" gives it a 5/5 and basically copies the write up for this beer on Charter Oak's Website....gotta be a brewery employee....LAME-O-!
For some reason I expected this beer to be much darker, but it pours a nice dark brown. This beer's aroma has very faint piney chinook hop presence, if at all. The flavor is smooth with a prominent caramel note. Overall, a decent brew.

2/21...pours mostly brown, though hazy and cloudy. A scant amount of white foam. Damp musty nose. Slight nutty malt. Sharp peppy wood bark bitter. Earthy. Old feeling, like it has been in your basement for a while. Pokey bitter too. Charter has made better.

Robust in character, taste, ABV, and shade. Rich deep brown with two fingers of tan foam and a wonderful, yet subtle piney aroma. Complex, yet well balanced and very drinkable; brewed with generous quantities of hops, and yet plenty of specialty malted barley
