Blind-tasted except for the beer's name and brewery/country, zero reviews below read (yet!)...
L- Superfially black but I can see a glint of garnet-red though the edge os the glass. Pours with a short-lived mid-tan cap of foam. So far, strongly resembles cola.
S- Some toasty grains.
T- Well roasted and surely this has dark cocoa added to it... and maybe vanilla too? ...
F- Rather thin vs the quite pungent taste.
O- It's a bit different, a cocoa'ish black beer than isn't sweet/rich with it. Then again such rich beers need to have a notably higher ABV% to work. In summary it's ok I'll finish it, though I'd not buy it again, it's a bit too much ploughing it's own furrow...
Review1968/scoring all done, now the reveal, I get to read the lables to see what I missed! ==> 'A 1930's recipe designed by a soldier who never returned from war. Blackout is deliciously smooth & dark with chocolate and vanilla flavours - by 'eck it's addictive. Hops Goldings, Fuggles. Malts Pale, Caramalt, Crystal 150, Choc, Black, Oatmalt'.
500ml bottle BB: 08/06/2022 £2.40 Bought from TremblingMadness, York/UK as part of a large pick-your own consignment to London.

Half on tap at Shambles in York. Pours dark ruby brown with a small creamy head that leaves a partial coating on the glass. Nose is light milk chocolate and some roasted and earthy notes. Flavor is very chocolate...surprised there isn't added chocolate here. Some earthy notes from the hops, but turns nicely bitter into the finish. Quite and enjoyable stout at this ABV.

Served cool from 500ml bottle into straight pint glass.
L) Black with reddish tinge, opaque. Thin off-white bubbly film.
S) Interesting sourish odour overlays the usual burnt malt odours.
T) Really nice chocolate-type flavour, no strong burnt malt flavour, slight hint of bitterness. Some vanilla sweetness too. Lots happening, all good, all in balance.
F) Quite an easy drinking dark beer. Quite light and fairly well carbonated.
O) Really like this one, easy to drink, but lots of nice balanced flavours to enjoy. Recommended.

Massive pour at pivni in York.
Served with a thin layer of a creamy off white head. This baby is pretty damn dark. Can get some light to shine through at the top when held to the light. Aroma is big time sweet dark chocolate. Very nice. Taste is really chocolate forward without having an acrid or bitter lingering finish. Well done. If you like a chocolate beer this is a good one. Reminds me of a sweet or milk stout as it has a nice slightly sweet finish with just a bit of carbonation zing.

500ml Bottle conditioned: BBD 7th Aug 2013, poured at home some 8 days earlier into an 'Abbot Ale' glass tankard.
Lovely black colour with a full and lasting beige head.
Chocolate esters and tastes rule the brew completely, rich and creamy feel to the whole brew: a chocolate orange flavour arrives as the beer warms in the glass, which sets it apart from other Porters I've tried.
Really enjoyed this beer, my fourth and final bottle during a 'random tasting evening' I undertook with myself.
