Notes: Geez—not another IPA! That’s right, this is not just another IPA. Consider it a next generation IPA. A slightly sweet, lower ABV, IPA providing welcome relief from the onslaught of bitter hop bombs out there. Its complex aromatic layers, suggest mango, melon, pine and berries, are driven by whole-leaf Mosaic and Citra hops which are then balanced by an acidulated and pilsner malt bill. Finally, its silky smooth mouthfeel will leave you asking for “mo!”

very cool ipa here, a bit different from what else is out there, and another great hoppy beer from crux. surprised i havent reviewed this one before, i feel like this was not my first time enjoying it. in any event, it has a little deeper color to it from the tap, kind of bronze in the glass. aroma is more uniquely fruity than i often get from mosaic and citra hops, and it seems unlikely that those are the only ones in here, i get that grassy limey galaxy hop character, even some el dorado type melon, but im not sure if there are any other hops actually in this or not. some crackery malt here too, lighter in taste than its color suggests, and drier too, unique base for these hops that seems to not just support them well but bring out some cool nuance. tangerine and melon in the flavor, some slight sharpness, passion fruit tang for a flash, some pineapple and meyer lemon, and an almost candied center of this, even though the grain seems dry, not sure where that comes from, almost a cryo hop sort of climax, insanely fresh and flavorful, i cant quite figure it out, and i cant get enough, i drink my pint way too quickly trying to understand what im tasting, its very distinct, especially for these two hops, which seem like such well known entities at this point, especially in combination with each other. awesome ipa, one i have often overlooked but will be drinking with some regularity now if it keeps on tasting like this. really impressive and different from the crowd.

Mouth feel is on the lighter side but works fine.
An OK beer ..easy drinker

Dank malty sweetness cut with a mellow melon note. This beer pours an impressive golden amber with a creamy cap. Mosaic, but not the typical mo. Might have proved to be a bit too much mo?

Amber golden pour , bit short of clear but not hazy. Aroma is initially caramel malt with some floral/fruity effect - mango, sweet citrus, tangerine. Taste follows - sweet caramel malt, melon, perhaps a bit of strawberry. Faint hop presence, but little noted bitterness - not see the 50 IBU. Win here is the mouthfeel - so smooth, almost creamy with perfect carbonation. If hoping for a bitter hop bomb look elsewhere but this is a delicious malt forward IPA.

F: Medium-light, well-carbonated, slightly oily. A little thin.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium coppery amber with a nice two finger white head with great retention and thick lacing. Aroma of citrus hops, melon, light tropical fruit, raspberries. Flavor is lightly caramel malt, citrus hops, red berries, orange and grapefruit citrus, a little pine; finishes with light to moderate citrus rind and mild tropical fruit hops. Moderate creaminess with a quite nice mouth feel. A pleasant, but moderately hopped IPA with an interesting mix of citrus and tropical flavors, but somewhat subdued citrus and piney hops. Very drinkable, but didn't really punish my taste buds enough. Would definitely get this again as a dinner beer, but probably grab another if I'm in the mood for a robust IPA.

Nice clear gold yellow body and very active carbonation with a nice thin but lasting head. Smells of grapefruit, orange, berries and deep slightly funky and sweet aroma from the acidulated pilsner malt. Taste follows the nose but the berry flavor strongly follows the moderate grapefruit hop flavor. Overall, the flavors are a bit muddled, as a result of the malt bill, which produces a murky-funky, hoppy and malty ipa, in a good way. Lastly, the mouthfeel is great. High carbonation that works well for this beer.

12 oz. Can
Canned On: 06/02/17

Pours a pretty nice hazy dark golden orangy color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy one-finger off-white head, which leaves some creamy sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, with some hops, citrusy, very slight pine. The taste is slightly hoppy, some maltyness, citrusy, some pine. Medium body, ABV hidden pretty well, nice little dry/bitter finish. Overall, tasty, wish I had a fresher can though.

Pours a rusty golden orange with a nice plump finger of slightly off-white foam.

Citrusy notes of orange and lemon are accompanied by tropical fruit notes of mango and melon.

Orange, mango, pine, and grapefruit all provide nice character, but does not stand out in flavor.

Light-medium bodied, medium carbonation, crisp, dry and bitter finish.

Overall, while looks good in appearance and smells great, this beer falls short in flavor and mouthfeel as nothing really makes this beer shine and it leave a bitter dry grassy finish.

Malty backbone is mild and the lack of bitterness makes this seem more like an APA than and IPA. Smooth and drinkable, but this is only an average beer IMO.

Poured from 12oz can into a dimpled mug. Canned 5/2/17.

Appearance: cloudy medium-orange hue with a thick finger of frothy ivory foam.

Smell: earthy, grassy and perhaps a little bit herbal with a little touch of underlying fruity character and a dash of sweetness. Not bad.

Taste: grassy, fruity and a little bit sweet; bitterness is indeed on the low side for the style. It's not overly complex, but it's still a tasty beverage.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a good carbonation and a good creaminess for the style.

Overall: although it's not complex, its lack of harsh bitterness makes this a nicely smooth and drinkable IPA.

12oz can, part of some rather dearly priced new offerings from this brewery to show up around here of late. The name and description here can only remind me of Moe the bartender from the Simpsons.

This beer pours a hazy, medium golden amber colour, with a near-teeming tower of puffy, rocky, and bubbly off-white head, which leaves some decent layered and webbed lace around the glass as it quickly sinks away.

It smells of gritty and grainy pale malt, muddled tropical fruit, some hard water flintiness, and a growing sense of leafy, weedy, and resinous piney green hop bitters. The taste is bready and doughy caramel malt, blood orange and red Texas grapefruit citrus rind, some earthy yeastiness, free-range berry sugar, and more weedy, floral, and wet pinecone verdant hoppiness.

The carbonation is quite tame in its quotidian frothiness, the body a solid middleweight, and genuinely smooth, with a nice inborn creaminess there from the veritable get-go. It finishes well off-dry, the malt and mixed fruitiness easily sending us out into the night.

Overall - yeah, this is certainly a pleasant enough version of the style, but hardly the Brave New World as espoused on the label marketing blurb. Oooooh - tropical fruit! And citrusy/piney hops! And a sweet malt backbone! Colour me duly unimpressed and impressed at the same time.

Pale amber color, big white head head that is long lasting. Very slight hop haze.

Subtle citrus hop aroma.

Not a huge amount of malt up front, some citrus and pine hop flavors, but overall flavor profile is more like an APA than an IPA to me. Seems a little thin on flavor for an IPA in my view. Tangy citrus hop flavors midmouth, and a slightly tart finish. Not very aggressive with the late bitterness. Very easy drinking for an IPA

Low-med body, med-high carbonation. Carbonation borderline too high in my opinion.

Might do better being labeled as a bigger Pale Ale. Pleasant beer with nice hop flavor, but overall a bit subdued.

A: The beer is rather hazy amber yellow in color. It poured with a finger high white head that died down, leaving a thin layer of bubbles coating both the surface and the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of cantaloupe melons are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of melons along with notes of blackberries. There is a slight amount of bitterness and acidity.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This IPA has a very interesting and unique aromas and flavors. It seems a little lighter in body compared to other IPAs and more like an APA.

Poured into a becher pint glass, the appearance was a bronzed golden color with a finger's worth of white foamy head that held and slid off at a mild pace. Sticky foamy messy lace wove around the glass nicely.
The aroma held a ton of sweet to tart berries up front and flowing freely into a nice grassy to slightly orange pulp-like bitter edge at the end. Super clean malt base.
The flavor started sweet and added just a tickle of the tart with just a pinch of the bitterness at the very end. Quick clean semi-sweet berry to tart aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was almost medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt good. ABV felt good. Finish was slightly sticky, but acceptable, not cloying.
Overall, super nice berry aromatic and flavorful forward AIPA. So glad I was able to taste this one.

Poured from the can into a Spiegelau IPA glass. Canned May 2nd 2017.

Rocky and clingy fistfull off white chunky head right out of the can. Island whipped top, thick rich and big bubbled with a big presence and not even going to budge. Body color is a lighter pale amber, slightly cloudy but with some decent clarity and minimal carbonation. Very nice looking IPA.

Very nice aroma coming down the pipe. Sharp soft herbs with an excellent floral like sweetness, mixes with a nice sugary caramel malt quality. Earth and sweet herbs, orange sharp zest even makes an appearance. Really dig this, almost a sweet dank quality.

Palate takes a different turn. Very light almost session IPA like mouthfeel, with a touch of light hop qualities. A good mix of earth and citrus like qualities but taken down by a quick and fleeting malt presence that washes pretty fast. Minimal aftertaste with a bit of soft herbal qualities. A good diverse mix of hop flavors, earth, citrus, pine and herbs, but with a faint subtlety.

A very unique hop presence, but very much feels like a toned down brew on the palate. Surprising at 6% plus abv as it feels like a weaker brew.

From a growler, pours a medium-hazed burnt orange. 2+ fingers of off-white foam leaves big webs of lacing. Great looking beer.

S: citrus, pine resin, earthy, spicy herbs. Touch of sweet malt.

T: Similar to smell, with a tiny hint of strawberry in there.

F: LIght medium

Overall, a tasty IPA, big on hops, but with enough malt to provide some balance.
