Take a trip to the tropics with this bright IPA, featuring an eruption of tropical hop flavor thanks to Experimental Hop #586. Notes of mango, guava, lychee and citrus explode from the depths of a mellow malt foundation to reveal a beautifully balanced beer with a soft mouthfeel and slightly sweet finish.

Pours an opaque golden clear with medium head and a tropical aroma. The taste is hoppy but not overly bitter with a sweetness at the finish. Nice refreshing beer with a slight orange peel taste. Rated 6-3-2022

Clear amber brew with a tall pile of foam in the narrow glass. Intriguing aroma that is less describable than most, but tends toward some kind of fruit. Light body and sudsy mouthfeel. Slight malty taste and sweetness with a hint of honey. Spicy with notes of cucumber, blueberry, and maybe papaya. Finishes with some dankness and a peppery bite. This is a quite interesting brew with distinct hoppy flavors but restrained intensity. Highly drinkable with the modest bitter aftertaste. From the 12 oz can canned on 02/06/24.

solid new ipa from these guys, they keep delivering no matter what they are making, reliably one of the best breweries in the northwest for my money. this one is on the lighter side in the glass, not quite clear but more unfiltered looking than majorly hazy, well carbonated, and smells fresh as can be. the lead hop, perhaps even the only hop, is the new experimental 586, which is making waves this summer. its still a bit of an unknown, and in my limited experience with it seems capable of wearing a few different hats, but in this instance its tropical fruit all the way, straight up canned fruit cocktail, sweet fleshy pear, canned pineapple, juicy mango and orange too, some frozen orange juice concentrate to me as well, all popping over a pretty light grain base. the flavor is just like the nose, fruit to the dome, green grape, tangerine, papaya, and fresh picked flowers in the mix as well, summery and even beachy to me, the flavor is great here, quite unique and modern, some southern hemisphere type fruitiness to it, definitely a cool hop complexion. the beer does heavy up a little as it warms, some oiliness from the hops adds to that, and even though the ferment is clean, the beer overall has some linger. in some ways the simplicity of this is great because it allows this new hop to really lead the way, but i think overall i want the whole thing to be slightly lighter and drier and easier feeling, the flavors seem to want that too. no real bitterness so it never quite finishes, almost pale ale in that way. excited about 586 moving forward, and always a joy to drink new beers from crux, this was a fun four pack for a hot summer weekend!

Canned May 5th. Definite fruit nose and taste, but not as much as the can's copy implies. Some citrus with lesser-defined flavors still prominent over a fairly solid malt base. Finish is drier than expected.

The beer doesn't really live up to its billing. You have a reasonably well-made IPA and not much over that.
