Style: Smoked Helles
“Smoking Jacket” is refreshing & crisp lightly smoked Helles-style lager… the rare smoked beer that is perfect for summer. A beautiful aroma of smoked meats is followed by clean & crisp malty character reminiscent of a fresh pilsner, with the lightest of smoked flavoring. A smoked beer for everyone.
Enjoy Newburgh Smoking Jacket with BBQ, smoked meats, or perhaps wearing your finest evening attire.

12oz brown bottle, sample from the brewery.
Lovely white lacing on top of a very pale yellow hued brew. Fresh smoke in a bready malty nose. Very clean with just enough crispness. Smoke is slightly aggressive but very enjoyable. Kiss of hop bitterness and a very clean malt backbone show this beer to be a true lager. A lot of fun to sip.

Crystal clear hay color, foamy white head. Very light for a helles. Aroma and taste wise I basically get a Bamberger Zweibeln in a glass here, which is a stuffed onion baked with pork and spices. In this case it's a Vidalia onion and it's a bit cloying with its sweetness. Green apple and hay compliment a spicy and nectarine like hoppiness. Smoke flavor tends to dominate. Not a bad rauchbier, but not what I'm really looking for in a helles.
