Can tossed my way from sirsteve with the commentary "drink this tonight...you're welcome." So here we are (granted that chat was yesterday, I did my best to head the advice).

Looks are standard dept the head is a bi t more white...the nose however jumps from the glass and screams impressive barrel aged stoutnfrom across the room. Closer inspection confirms legitness.

Few gulps and yowza...this one came out of nowhere to blow my head up. Hot damn, that's a FINE beverage. Deep and lush flavors...this one came from the pits of hell and isnt taking prisoners. Candidate for pleasant surprise of the year. Fans of BA stouts should run for this. Cross between BA stout and BA barleywine all part awesome.

Reviewed the day after can release. Poured into Rushing Duck Belgian glass. It pours nearly jet black with a pretty, mocha-colored head and lacing with excellent retention. The nose is amazing! Roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, freshly-brewed coffee, black cherry, and a subtle but noticeable bourbon. There is abundant dark fruit: black cherry and currant, along with rich chocolate and caramel. As the glass warmed, I noticed more coffee, as well. It's absolutely decadent! You can also taste the bourbon but it doesn't overwhelm the other flavors. This ale has a pleasant, viscous mouth feel with mild carbonation, and while the 12.75% ABV isn't in your face it nonetheless packs a wallop! It's a true winter sipper. Overall, this is an amazing blend of four barrel-aged beers, two from each brewery. It's quite an achievement!
