Apparently, there are other brewers using the Pearson's Nut Roll as inspiration, but this seems unique by virtue of the 7.5% ABV. On to the show, which begins by cracking open a pint can. The contents are poured into a clear glass liter mug, but it quickly becomes a foamy mess. The head explodes like an overly wheat starched ale, then typically recedes unevenly and relatively quickly, leaving spotty glass lacing. After that setback, the aroma comes to retrieve the experience. It's complex, with notes of nuts, hops, salt and maybe even caramel. Now that the foam has settled, let the record show the brew's color is a solid copper-amber. The preliminaries finished, we move on to the taste. There's an unexpected sour aspect to this than would ever be foreseen. There's saltiness, but no real resemblance of nuts to be found. The additional lactose may contribute to this disappointing taste and this may be a can past its time. This specific can was far from a nut roll treat, it was much more sour than sweet and devoid of any nuttiness. It's body was mediocre, although it carried the ABV very well. This will have to be tried again, but for this particular episode, it's way off the mark.
